Rockwall Release Audit Trail
Rockwall County has no official rolling 24-hour release page. The supported source is the Sheriff’s weekly booking and release archive. Each Release Audit Trail covers a stated date range and gives an exact time for each departure. A reader can use that time to isolate events within a chosen 24-hour period, but the result remains a manual slice of a weekly report. It must not be described as a county-produced same-day dashboard.
The weekly format creates a timing gap. A departure that occurred today may not appear until a later report is posted. Rockwall does not promise a fixed upload day, within-day refresh cycle, correction schedule, or archive retention period. When the newest audit predates the event, contact Admissions and Release at 972-204-7108. If staff cannot disclose the detail, use the county’s public-information process.
The county archive screen separates weekly booking and release material. The official archive shown here is the correct entry point.

The archive’s wider windows explain why an exact-time check is needed for a 24-hour question.
Check Rockwall Releases Today
Use a fixed start and end time before opening the report. “Last 24 hours” is a moving period, while “today” begins at midnight. Writing down the intended interval prevents an event near midnight from being counted in the wrong day.
- Open the Sheriff’s Release Audit Trail archive and choose the newest report that overlaps the period.
- Read the report’s start and end dates. Review each exact release date and time that falls inside the selected 24-hour interval.
- Match the person cautiously with the SO number and other known identity details. Avoid relying on a common name alone.
- Read “Release Reason Desc.” Separate bond, served time, charges dropped, or judge release from transfers to DOC, another jail, federal authority, or an out-of-state authority.
- If the report is too old, call 972-204-7108. Use the Texas Public Information Act form when a documented response is needed.
For a broader weekend or three-day check, use the 72-Hour Release List method. To trace one named person across county, state, court, and federal systems, use the Rockwall County released inmate search.
Rockwall 24-Hour Record Fields
The release audit contains more than a name and timestamp. Its reason field is the key to understanding what happened. The record may also carry sensitive identity details, but those details need not be copied or republished merely to confirm an event.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Release date and time | The exact recorded endpoint of Rockwall custody, used to define the 24-hour slice. |
| SO number and name | The Sheriff’s identifier and the listed identity; use both to reduce same-name mistakes. |
| Housing and identity fields | Housing, sex/race, date of birth, and address as printed in the audit. |
| Offense code | The jail’s listed offense code, not proof of conviction or final case outcome. |
| Release reason | The Sheriff’s reason label, which may show bond, time served, court action, or transfer. |
| Totals | The report’s count for its full weekly window, not automatically the 24-hour count. |
The audit does not show a booking photograph, full court disposition, named receiving facility, release conditions, or projected release date. “Entered In Error” is one of the possible data-quality labels. Confirm an anomaly with the release desk and, when legal effect matters, the Rockwall judicial portal.
Note: “Charges Dropped” is a jail release label. Only the court or prosecutor record can establish the formal case disposition.
Was the Rockwall Inmate Freed?
A release audit records departure from Rockwall custody. It does not always record freedom from custody. Surety bond, cash bond, personal-recognizance bond, generic bonded release, served time, charges dropped, or release per judge can point toward a community departure. Another hold can still affect the outcome, so check the related court event when certainty matters.
| Rockwall entry | Next verification channel |
|---|---|
| Bond or judge release | Rockwall court docket and release desk for holds and the recorded event. |
| Released to DOC | TDCJ offender search after intake and data-update time. |
| Transferred to another jail | Ask Rockwall to identify the recipient, then use that jail’s current roster. |
| To Federal Authority | Request the receiving agency; then use BOP, ICE, USMS, or the federal court route as appropriate. |
| To Out of State Authority | Identify and contact the receiving jurisdiction. |
The current active jailings search answers a different question: whether the person is presently recorded in the county jail. A person who has left normally drops off that search. A missing name can also reflect spelling, delay, restriction, or the wrong jurisdiction, so it cannot establish a release by itself.
Rockwall Bond Release Timing
Rockwall publishes no standard gate-release hour. The Detention FAQ does give one concrete limit: after a bond is delivered and verified, and only if no other hold exists, release processing can take up to four hours. That period begins after valid bond delivery and verification, not at arrest, arraignment, or the first discussion with a bondsman.
Magistrations occur seven days a week with no fixed time and may take up to 48 hours. Magistration is the initial judicial process in which rights and accusation information are addressed. It is not the physical release event. The audit’s exact timestamp is the better evidence that Rockwall custody ended.
The official FAQ screenshot documents these local operational limits. See the county source before using a general estimate.

The conditional wording matters because a remaining hold can prevent the anticipated departure.
Getting Home After Rockwall Release
Rockwall County does not publish a family waiting area, rideshare staging rule, routine exit time, or weekend transportation plan. STAR Transit is a planning option, not a jail shuttle. Its origin-to-destination Rockwall County service generally operates from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and asks riders to schedule at 877-631-5278 at least one business day ahead.
That schedule can help when a discharge is predictable. It may not fit a late-night, weekend, or uncertain bond-out. Confirm the actual Rockwall release before arranging pickup, and do not assume a projected time is final. No official source establishes a normal gate hour.
Rockwall Release Reasons Differ
The county’s reason vocabulary distinguishes surety bond, cash bond, personal-recognizance bond, and generic bonded release. A personal-recognizance bond is release on a promise to comply with court terms rather than cash security. The audit therefore says more than mere disappearance from a roster.
A “Released to DOC” entry means Texas state custody is the next path. “Transferred to Another Jail” means Rockwall’s timestamp is only a handoff. “Serving Sentence-Weekender” describes an intermittent sentence and should not be called a final discharge. For “Release-Other,” ask for the event or transfer record because the label is nonspecific.
Rockwall Sheriff App Limits
The OCV Rockwall County Sheriff app is real, but its official Google Play listing promises news, tips, communication, and public-safety features. It does not promise an inmate search, recent-release list, or booking photographs. Do not substitute it for the official weekly audit unless the installed app is checked and a release feature is confirmed.
The store listing captures the documented scope. The official app description is shown here.

The absence of a promised release module is a useful negative finding, not a reason to recommend an unofficial feed.
Request a Rockwall Release Record
When the weekly audit has not posted or lacks enough detail, request an existing record from Rockwall County. Give the person’s full name, date of birth if known, SO number if known, and a narrow booking or release range. Name the desired item, such as the release event, transfer sheet, bond record, or receiving-agency field. The county form asks for requester contact information, the responsible department, and a description of existing information.
IVSS-Counties can provide a custody alert for a specific person in participating county custody, but it is not a certified release record. If Rockwall reports a transfer to TDCJ, use the separate state offender search and state IVSS route. Federal or immigration transfers require the responsible federal channel.
