Understanding Rockwall County Releases
“Released” means that one agency's custody ended. It does not always mean that the person walked free. Rockwall Release Record Limits
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs requests for existing public information. It does not make every field public, force an office to answer legal questions, or require creation of a new summary. Juvenile material, sealed or expunged records, protected personal data, active-investigation information, medical facts, and security-sensitive jail details may require withholding or redaction.

Rockwall has unusually specific property rules. During custody, only the sealed property bag may be picked up with the inmate's approval. It may contain keys, jewelry, identification, a wallet, a phone, and small items. Other property remains until departure. If property is left because of the circumstances of release, only the person designated at departure may retrieve it.
No separate property-desk hours are published. Call the jail before making the trip. A transfer can also change where later property or identification questions must be directed.
Find Released Rockwall County Inmates

Rockwall County Weekly Release Audit
Rockwall has no official rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release dashboard. Its distinctive product is a weekly Release Audit Trail with exact event times. Readers can isolate a shorter span within a downloaded report, but the PDF must still be described as weekly. It may lag a new event until the next upload, and the county does not promise a set posting day or archive term.
The current search covers “current active jailings,” not past releases. The official archive makes that division clear. The county archive shows separate booking and release reports.

Rockwall Release and Court Records
The jail event and court case should be read together. The Rockwall judicial records portal can show the cause number, court, filed charge, docket events, disposition, judgment, and orders available in the public view. Felony complaints route through grand jury and district court. Misdemeanors are filed by information with the County Clerk. That split tells a requester which clerk holds the durable case record.
“Charges Dropped” is the Sheriff's release-reason label unless the prosecutor or court record states the formal result. “Released Per Judge” does not reproduce the order. A “Served Time” exit does not by itself state all credit, fines, or later supervision.
Rockwall Supervision After Release
Rockwall Adult Probation handles local court community supervision. TDCJ Parole Division handles state parole and mandatory supervision, with Rockwall generally routed through Dallas II after assignment is confirmed. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles makes parole decisions through an administrative file-review process. Eligibility or a favorable vote is not proof that a person has physically left a state unit.

Rockwall Release to Federal Authority
The audit phrase “To Federal Authority” proves the Rockwall custody endpoint, not freedom and not a specific federal destination. Ask for the transfer or receiving-agency record. Use the BOP Inmate Locator for a sentenced federal person or former BOP inmate. Use the ICE detainee locator when immigration detention is the issue. A USMS pretrial prisoner may be housed in a local or contract jail and may not appear as a current BOP inmate.

Rockwall Release Record Expunction
Release, dropped charges, and expunction are not the same event. Rockwall's District Clerk expunction page describes a court process. Effective September 1, 2025, it lists a $25 certified-mail issuance fee for each included agency without an email address. That is a court procedure fee, not the price of a release record.
A missing case may result from expunction, sealing, juvenile confidentiality, a search mismatch, or an archive problem. Do not claim a record was expunged without reliable support, and do not use a commercial cache to bypass a lawful restriction.

Rockwall County Detention Center is the county's only jail and publishes departures through the weekly audit. The Rowlett Police Department Detention Facility is a short-term municipal hold. A Class B-or-higher prisoner may transfer from Rowlett to Dallas or Rockwall County, while a Class C prisoner may leave after an appearance bond or payment of fines. Because Rowlett spans county lines, confirm which county received the person.
The county reported that its Detention Center passed its eighteenth consecutive annual Texas Commission on Jail Standards inspection in 2026. The current facility page lists capacity at 444. These facts describe the jail, not the legal status of any person.
